The Role
As a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor at Retail Food Group, you will be at the forefront of fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our Company Stores division, support office, and factory locations operate within the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. Your expertise will directly contribute to minimizing risks, preventing incidents, and promoting best practices across all levels of our organisation. By conducting regular audits, providing comprehensive training, and implementing effective HSW strategies, you will help safeguard our employees, customers, and the communities we serve. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop HSW Policies - Create and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct Safety Audits – Perform regular safety audits and inspections across all company stores, support office and factory locations to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to HSE standards.
  • Training Programs – Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to educate employees on safety and environmental best practices.
  • Incident Investigation – Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Risk Assessment – Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimise potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Stay up to date with relevant HSE legislation and ensure the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Emergency Response Planning – Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures, including conducting regular drills and training sessions.
  • Safety Reporting – Maintain accurate records and reports of HSE activities, incidents, and compliance status, and present findings to management.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HSE practices and implement innovative solutions to enhance safety and environmental performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication – Work closely with management, employees, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the organisation.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Health and Safety roles with proven expertise in developing HSW frameworks and leading cultural change.
  • Relevant qualifications in workplace health and safety (Minimum Cert IV in WHS) with WorkCover accreditation as Return-to-work Coordinator highly advantageous.
  • First Aid and CPR qualified or willingness to undertake training.
  • Experience in leading safety audits including assessment and rating of key operational risks within a hands-on business environment.
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation and codes of practice.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Demonstrated background in developing documentation, policies, procedures, SOP’s and Training material.
  • Proven site-based experience in a factory setting – Highly regarded.
