Outstanding occupational health and safety initiatives have been reconised at the inaugural 2012 Comcare Work Health and Safety Awards.

Presented at a gala dinner in Sydney, the awards recognise and reward excellence in work health and safety, rehabilitation and return to work achieved by employers in the Comcare scheme.

Organisations under the Comcare health and safety jurisdiction, including all Commonwealth public service agencies and private sector licensees, were eligible for the awards.

Over 400 guests attended the presentation which acknowledged 23 finalists.
Comcare CEO, Paul O’Connor praised the standard of the entries which he said demonstrated an impressive commitment to work health and safety.

“The entries across all the award categories were inspiring and confirmed that organisations in the Comcare scheme are developing new and innovative ways to improve worker health and safety,” Mr O’Connor said.
