Farm death rate rises
At least of 49 people have died on Australian farms so far this year.
New stats released by AgHealth Australia (previously known as the Australian Centre for Agricultural Health and Safety or ACAHS) show the current death toll is higher than the corresponding period in 2017, when 45 on-farm deaths were reported.
The experts say tractors, utilities, quads, and motorbikes were the leading causes of death on Australian farms.
Eight fatalities were tractor-related, 5 due to utilities, and 4 fatalities from quad bikes and motorbikes.
Sixteen of 120 injury events involved children aged under 15 years.
Quads and motorbikes accounted for over 30 per cent of all incidents, followed closely followed by horse-related injury and tractor-related injury.
