Forklift finals crown kings and queens of warehousing
The thrilling final of the National Forklift Championships has been held in Brisbane, with crowds and competitors witnessing some of the best forklift operators in the game.
The final round saw would-be champions take on a course layout that tested the most advanced skills in forklift operation.
Thirteen male and four female finalists navigated a range of tasks, including using their rigs to shoot a basketball through a hoop.
While it seems like fun and games, Australian Warehousing Association President Bill Henman says the point of the competition is to boost safety and efficiency in all operations, and always to keep within national standards.
Competitors from across industries and companies came together for National Forklift Championships with judges flown in from Sydney and Brisbane.
The champion female driver was Jayde Graham, the champion male was Andrew Knowles, and the winner of the novelty event (forklift basketball) was Puna Ririnui.
The Australian Warehousing Association says it is now planning for the 2015 event to held in September.
