Raft of charges for ex-union figure
Kathy Jackson has been hit with 70 charges of theft and deception-related offences.
The former Health Services Union leader - more recently labelled the world’s worst whistleblower - faces a string of charges laid by Taskforce Heracles, which was set up to look at matters arising from the Royal Commission into Trade Union Corruption and Governance.
Ms Jackson had previously blown the whistle on other high-ranked members of the Health Services Union, helping to jail union boss Michael Williamson for leeching almost $1 million.
She was ordered in August 2015 to repay the Health Services Union about $1.4 million in misappropriated union money she had used to pay for travel, groceries, entertainment and divorce proceedings.
Reports say Ms Jackson lived a wealthy life, travelling the world, driving expensive cars and wearing designer clothing, allegedly paid for with union money.
She will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 19.
