Safety studies funded in SA
The next round of Safe Work SA WHS Research Strategy will pay out $650,000 in research grants, with applications open now.
The safety authority’s ‘commissioned research grants’ will see experts conduct applied studies that help prevent workplace injury and illness in South Australia.
Meanwhile, ‘innovation practice grants’ will allow organisations with workplace safety responsibilities to fund development and delivery of new safety practices for South Australian workplaces.
Safe Work SA says its priority industries are agriculture, road transport, health care and social services, manufacturing, accommodation and food services, public administration, and construction.
The grants will also help address systemic work-related disorders common across several sectors.
“Each year, South Australia is fortunate to have high calibre researchers willing to tackle tough issues and industry groups eager to improve work health and safety practice for everyone’s benefit,” said acting Executive Director Ms Marie Boland.
“Reducing work-related injuries by 50 percent by 2022 in South Australia requires commitment across industries and within workplaces, with research and innovation key tools to achieving this,” she said.
Applications close 13 November, 2015.
