Transport tops death toll
A total of 115 Australian workers have been killed at work this year.
The latest figures from Safe Work Australia show the transport, postal and warehousing industry has recorded the highest number of workplace deaths, with 37 fatalities so far.
Agriculture, forestry and fishing saw 32 fatalities, while 20 fatalities were recorded in the construction sector.
There have been nine occupational fatalities in the manufacturing industry while 5 mine workers have died on the job this year, according to Safe Work Australia.
There were three fatalities each in the electricity, gas, water and waste services, and public administration and safety.
The arts and recreation sector and wholesale trade sectors saw two fatalities each.
There was one death in both rental, hiring and real estate services, and administrative and support services.
