WHS Manager

 

We are on the lookout for a dedicated and knowledgeable WHS Manager to join our team. This position is WFH on a permanent full-time basis with travel to our sites in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.

The position:

The WHS Manager, you will lead the safety strategy and execution for Respect with the goal of ensuring we have safe workplaces and the minimum possible number of injuries. This includes, but not limited to, developing, implementing, governance over and providing reporting on the program of work required to build and maintain a strong culture of safety.

The role is instrumental in developing the roadmap, executing on the strategy, and reporting on progress. Where employees are injured, the role ensures an empathetic level of early response and care. This position is remote, however, will require regular travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a long-term safety roadmap focused on risk reduction and a culture of mindful safety  
  • Communicate with and engage the workforce in the roadmap, expectations, and benefits of the program 
  • Drive a strong safety culture that permeates all levels of the organisation, ensuring employees, residents, and families understand its importance 
  • Develop and implement safety initiatives that create a positive environment for staff and contribute to eliminating work-related injuries and operational incidents  
  • Oversee the management of workplace injury cases, including associated compensation, rehabilitation, and return to work provisions, ensuring Respect’s best interests are represented 
  • Review decisions, timeframes, and complaints related to the management of claims 
  • Escalate significant events to the CEO/CPO/Board and relevant regulatory body as required 
  • Develop and maintain a risk register and manage the program of work to reduce risk across the business. 
  • Ensure all WHS policies reflect current regulations 
  • Ensure the WHS team are educated and well versed in all relevant WHS legislation and workers compensation law. 
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators to be reported at all levels of the organisation.
  • Analyse data trends and metrics to provide insights and recommendations for improving safety performance 
  • Develop in conjunction with Organisational Development, and deliver WHS training programs for all levels of staff 

Requirements

Essential: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in OHS 
  • NDIS Worker Screening Endorsement (or ability to acquire).
  • National Police Check 

Desirable: 

  • Experience in Aged Care and/or health care settings. 
  • Experience with contemporary Safety Management Systems. 

To be considered for employment with Respect, each candidate must satisfy the legislative requirements of Aged Care Worker Screening to ensure suitability to work in the aged care industry.
