About the Role

GPC are deeply committed to delivering operating discipline and excellence, with safety as their number one priority. To support these outcomes, GPC conducted an external review of their safety practices, which led to the identification of a set of 19 initiatives to be delivered across the business.

As a member of the Safety & ESG team, the Safety Enhancement Project Lead is required to draw on experience in the delivery of safety projects to influence safety culture, leading the implementation of GPC's Safety Enhancement initiatives across the entire enterprise.

  • As a key strategic leadership role, the Safety Enhancement Project Lead will be the key relationship point with the Executive Leadership team (ELT), who are initiative owners. Further to this, this role will be responsible for:
  • Design, plan, execute, monitor and report on the identified Safety Enhancement initiatives;
  • Provide subject matter expertise and be able to leverage other subject matter experts to drive the safety outcomes for each of the Safety Enhancement initiatives and contribute to GPC's safety maturity and culture;
  • Undertake stakeholder engagement activities for the portfolio, ensuring projects are viable, alternative viewpoints are considered and feedback or challenges are incorporated;
  • Ensure safety-focussed initiatives are integrated into operational Safety Team processes as appropriate to support initiative longevity;
  • Design standardised project governance processes for the portfolio and monitor compliance and project progress across the full set of initiatives, including those delivered through other departments; and
  • Act as the key point of accountability for the portfolio of projects, including providing progress reports to the ELT and Board.

About You

  • As a health and safety subject matter expert, you will have experience implementing safety initiatives to improve / enhance safety outcomes, contributing to safety maturity and culture;
  • Highly developed knowledge and skills in project management, including results focussed methodologies and supporting tools; and
  • Demonstrated previous experience in leading major projects / multi-faceted projects within budget and schedule that aligned to business outcomes.
