ABOUT THE ROLE

The Work, Health & Safety Lead, as a member of the Legal and Regulatory team, is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the health and safety management system at the AFL and Marvel Stadium. This role will also support the safe delivery of events at Marvel Stadium.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

Key Accountabilities:

  • Management and oversight of incident management processes from investigation to rectification.
  • Create and implement a best-in-class Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).
  • Continuously review, monitor and improve working practices. This includes leading and managing workplace safety inspections, identifying and managing hazards, as well as the development and updating of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with the management of departmental safety risk assessments and risk registers.
  • Assist with the Return-to-Work process for injured team members.
  • Review and improve the implementation of existing software systems including contractor management software.
  • Support the Work Health and Safety Lead with the management of workplace safety at Marvel Stadium during event and non-event days/nights.
  • Play a key supporting role in building safety awareness and competency across the AFL and Marvel Stadium, including training for leaders and team members.
  • In the event of an incident or emergency, provide administrative/supportive role as directed by the Chief Warden.
  • Participate in and take minutes of Safety & Wellbeing Committee meetings, distribute minutes and follow-up on action items.

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

Core Competencies:

  • Minimum five years' experience in a health and safety lead role (preferably involving multiple sites and large capacity venues).
  • Demonstrated experience in incident management and policy development across relevant industries.
  • A sound knowledge of Australian health and safety legislation, regulations and codes or practice.
  • Experience in conducting audits, investigations, risk assessments and preparing reports.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement track record.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Experience supporting company health and safety programs, with a focus on conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments, as well as preparing reports.
  • A proven ability to develop effective policies that are embedded in best-practice Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • A proven ability to propose practical solutions to WHS issues considering relevant legislation, standards and guidance materials.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, results and performance driven.
  • Demonstrated skills in program delivery, quality management, risk and safety.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders (internal and external).

Desirable

  • Safety management experience in major events and/or at large capacity venues.
